Increased Sensitivity, Consciousness and Awareness
There used to be a widespread belief - and probably there still is
in some circles - that group consciousness equated "group-think" and the end of
individualism. In her sci-fi novel, Anthem, widely read in high schools, Ayn
Rand warns against "group-think," going so far as to give her main characters
numbers instead of names. This is a limited view which arises from what some
call a "herd" state-encompassing something like 70% of humanity. This is the
"mainstream," characterized by followers who don't seriously question what
they're told to believe or think, and if they do, they accept answers without
further question.
As people evolve out of the "herd" state, they question beliefs, customs, and
taboos of society and begin to find their own individuality. These individuals
explore societal norms, ask questions, and form their own answers. They live out
these answers in their individualized values, actions, beliefs, customs and
taboos. Independence is important to them, and they value self-discovery and
freedom. When individuated people comprise a group, there is no rush to
group-think. However, one of the potential pitfalls is the clash of egos. In the
cycle of evolutionary consciousness, this is the "Individuated" state,
containing about 25% of humanity.
Beyond this state of individuation, we enter the Spiritual state, where
individuals attempt to understand their lives in a universal, holistic sense,
connected to all of Nature. In this state, people strive to eliminate all
separating forces and desires. The highest manifestation of this state is the
Ascended Master (not very many around) who lives every moment in a state of
connectedness to All That Is. We can call this unending Oneness. As people on
the planet move toward this state, we come closer to achieving a "planetary
consciousness."
Of course, any one individual on a path of personal growth may exhibit more or
less of each of these states. We may find ourselves ascending and descending
from moment to moment based on our karma, emotions, choices, human experiences,
and more.
The Center for Increased Consciousness is dedicated to helping speed up this
evolutionary process by guiding those who are ready for what we call the "New
Group Consciousness" or NGC. NGC arises from intentional collections of
individuals who have, for the most part, moved through and beyond the herd
mentality, into individuation and may have at least a toe dipped in
spirituality.
Differences in class, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age, looks,
intelligence-in short, all those things which have us buying into the myth that
we're divided-do not exist. There is only the illusion of separation. Although
many of us recognize the illusory nature of some of these differences and live
accordingly, few of us have addressed the fragmentation that our thoughts create
in our minds. Internally, we remain divided until we learn to fully engage in a
connected state every moment. Yoga and meditation can be important steps along
the way. So can be our process at the Center for Increased Consciousness.
Out New Group Consciousness allows a group of individuals to unite into one
energized community so powerfully that each participant rapidly soars into a
connected state. Our method is to follow a few simple language guidelines, gaze
intently, and converse as a group with the sole topic of conversation: group
consciousness.
Imagine a fish in water. The fish is occupied with other fish and with food, and
totally unaware that water exists. In the same way, we humans focus on our
thoughts and perceptions and fail to notice the Universal Energy Field (which we
shall refer to as "the field") which is the ground of all being. The field
connects and enfolds everything and everybody in one coherent whole. Generally,
our thoughts lead us away from recognizing the field even though we're
"swimming" in it. At the CIC, we teach a way to become aware of the field and
our inescapable relationship to it. When one feels the buzz of the field, one
understands why some people initially drink or drug and then become alcoholics
and drug addicts; substances give the illusion of connection while
paradoxically, numbing. Plugging directly into the field with others in an NCG
nourishes and bathes each participant with positive energy.
